Genetic purging
Prediction of fitness under different breeding designs in conservation programs
Computer simulations are used to test the estimation of inbreeding-purging parameters in populations under different mating regimes: random mating, circular mating, and equal contributions.

Genetic purging in captive endangered ungulates with extremely low effective population sizes
We use inbreeding-purging theory to estimate the extent of purging in pedigreed populations of endangered ungulates ($N_e$ < 40). We also derive a mathematical expression to estimate the expected time required for purging to become detectable.

purgeR: Inbreeding and purging in pedigreed populations
An R package for inbreeding and purging analysis on pedigreed populations. The most complete tool for genetic purging analysis to date, including models to estimate individual inbreeding load decline for the first time.

Long-term exhaustion of the inbreeding load in Drosophila melanogaster
This work continues previous research on small populations of Drosophila ($N_{e} \approx 50$) for a longer period of time. After more than 100 generations of experiment, the measured inbreeding load is nearly depleted, in agreement with expectations from purging theory.

Detection of genetic purging and predictive value of purging parameters estimated in pedigreed populations
An expression to compute ancestral inbreeding ($F_{a}$) as a function of th eeffective population size ($N_{e}$) is derived. Simulations are used to show detection and prediction of purging using models based on $F_{a}$ and purged inbreeding ($g$).

Predictive model and software for inbreeding-purging analysis of pedigreed populations
An approximation to compute the purged inbreeding coefficient in pedigrees with overlapping generations is derived, and software to estimate the purging coefficient ($d$) in populations is presented (

Estimation of genetic purging under competitive conditions
We estimate the extent of inbreeding load and genetic purging in a bottlenecked population of
Drosophila melanogaster
($N_{e} \approx 50$) under competitive conditions, and evaluate fitness evolution over 40 generations.
